Measuring the semileptonic CP asymmetry in B0-meson mixing at LHCb — •Lucia Grillo for the LHCb Gruppe Physikalisches Institut Heidelberg collaboration — Physikalisches Institut, Heidelberg, Germany
Measurements of CP violation in the neutral B0-meson system probe the mixing dynamics which, in the Standard Model, is described by higher order loop diagrams. The CP violation in mixing processes is predicted to be very small (O(10−4) for B0), but could be enhanced by new physics contributions. The observable is thus an ideal tool to look for phenomena beyond our current theoretical description. Experimentally CP violation in mixing can be accessed by measuring the flavour-specific semileptonic asymmetry (known as asld for the B0-meson).
For the slowly oscillating semileptonic B0 decays the mixing asymmetry is distinguished from a possible production asymmetry by performing a time-dependent analysis. The analysis uses semileptonic B0 → D*−µ+νµ decays and B0 → D−µ+νµ decays collected in 2011 and 2012 by the LHCb detector.
