Search for new physics in pp collision events with one electron and missing transverse energy using CMS data — •Philipp Millet, Sören Erdweg, Thomas Hebbeker, Kerstin Hoepfner, Mark Olschewski, and Klaas Padeken — III. Physikalisches Institut A, RWTH Aachen University
A search for new physics in the electron + missing transverse energy channel is presented based on proton-proton collisions measured with the CMS detector at the LHC. The whole 2012 CMS dataset is used, which amounts to 20 fb−1 of collision data, recorded at a center of mass energy of 8 TeV.
In many extensions of the Standard Model, the existence of additional charged bosons called W′ is predicted. For this search, a simple W′ model with Standard Model-like couplings is used as a benchmark model. An additional interpretation is done in terms of an effective four fermion contact interaction theory.
