Angular distribution of the baryonic decay Λb→ Λ ℓ+ℓ− — •Philipp Böer, Thorsten Feldmann, and Danny van Dyk — Universität Siegen
Flavour changing neutral currents (FCNCs) of the form b→ s {γ, ℓ+ℓ−} do not appear at tree-level in the Standard Model (SM). Their leading contribution starts at the one-loop level and moreover is suppressed by both the CKM matrix elements and the Glashow-Iliopoulos-Maiani (GIM) mechanism. Therefore these transitions are well suited as indirect probes for effects of new physics. We perform a model independent analysis of the decay Λb → Λℓ+ℓ− which is induced by b→ s transitions. In our analysis we introduce uncorrelated, generalized coupling constants Ci, which can be limited by experimental data from b→ s{γ,ℓ+ℓ−}-induced decays. The fact that the Λb as well as the Λ can be polarized generates a complicated angular distribution of the decay width expressed through many angular observables. These are of interest in the model independent analysis mentioned before. We present results for the angular observables including all operators of the form [sΓi b] [ℓΓi′ℓ] up to mass dimension six.
