In this contribution we report on measurements of the mechanoelastic properties of squamous carcinoma cells. This study of single cancer cells in culture medium is carried out by Atomic Force Microscopy. In order to determine the elasticity of the cancer cells by calculating the Youngs modulus in the Hertz model we take force distance curves. We analyse and compare the different stiffnesses dependent on a position within one single cell. Accordingly we are able to avoid interfering effects of the substrate. This strategy is applied to the different densely populated areas of a cell culture. In addition we are interested in the various topography of the cells within a cell culture. In this way we are able to characterise the different cell types of the culture in order to relate their stiffness and their visual appearence.
