Understanding organic/inorganic interfaces from first principles — •Leeor Kronik — Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovoth, Israel
In this tutorial lecture, I will review some of the fundamental physical mechanisms affecting the electronic structure at organic/inorganic interfaces, with an emphasis on collective phenomena. I will demonstrate how first principles calculations, based primarily on density functional theory, can be successful in elucidating such phenomena. I will also discuss caveats and limitations in their application, as well as avenues for further research.
