In the family of iron-based superconductors, where the superconducting dome is usually separated from the magnetic phase, only few compounds show ferromagnetism arising in the superconducting state. The so far discovered examples show ferromagnetic ordering of Eu2+ ions. In this context, the presented ordering of iron orbitals in (Li 1−xFexOH)(Fe1−yLiySe) is unique.
We performed a wealth of experimental methods to characterize the physics in this system, including dc resistivity and magnetization. With use of local probes (µSR,NMR,Mößbauer), we are able to describe the emergence of bulk ferromagnetism and superconductivity in a microscopic scale. Both phenomena can coexist, though they compete with each other, due to a spatial separation in the multilayer system.
