Certifying entanglement in a multipartite state is a demanding task.
As a state of N qubits is parametrized by 4N−1 real numbers, one may expect that the measurement complexity of generic entanglement detection is also exponential with N.
However, in special cases we can design indicators for genuine multipartite quantum entanglement using measurements in only two settings.
We describe the general method of deriving such criteria, which are based on a more general entanglement criterion [1] using correlation measurements.
In the experiment we test two such non-linear witnesses, one constructed for four-qubit GHZ states, the other for Cluster states |C4⟩.
