Impact of the tracker alignment on physical object reconstruction at LHC under Run-2 conditions — •Patrick Connor, Matthias Schröder, Rainer Mankel, and Claus Kleinwort — DESY
The tracking system of the Cosmic Muon Solenoid detector consists of about 25 000 modules, whose position and orientation, among others, must be determined to a precision of 10 µ m and 10 µ rad respectively. Such an accuracy is reached through the track-based alignment technique, comparing predicted and measured data. Different data sets are used, for instance cosmic rays or collision data are analysed. In the talk, we will discuss the impact of the alignment on the measurement of physical observables under the conditions of the next run of the Large Hadron Collider.
