Measurement of double differential top-quark pair production cross sections with the CMS detector — Olaf Behnke and •Ievgen Korol — DESY, Notkestrasse 85, 22607 Hamburg, Germany
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a top-quark factory. About 100k events with a top-quark pair have been selected with high purity in the dileptonic decay channel using the 8 TeV data recorded with the CMS detector in the year 2012. Exploiting this large sample, double differential top-quark pair production cross sections are measured for the first time. The cross sections are studied as functions of various observable combinations such as transverse momentum of the top-quark versus its rapidity or the invariant mass of the top-quark pair versus its rapidity. The results are compared to theory predictions.
