Search for tt resonances in the lepton+jets channel with the CMS-detector — Johannes Haller, Roman Kogler, •Vilius Kripas, and Thomas Peiffer — Institut für Experimentalphysik, Universität Hamburg
A search for tt mass resonances in the lepton+jets channel at the LHC with √s = 8TeV is presented. For high resonance masses the decay products of the top quarks do not occur as isolated leptons or individual jets due to the high Lorentz boost. Therefore, special analysis methods including jet substructure algorithms, like top-tagging and subjet b-tagging, and specific isolation criteria are used. The invariant mass distribution of the tt system is used to determine exclusion limits for tt resonances in various models of new physics. The results from a combination of analyses using the full 8TeV dataset in the dilepton, lepton+jets and all-hadronic channels are shown. An outlook on the forthcoming 13TeV data in the lepton+jets decay channel is discussed.
