Search for vector-like quarks in single production mode with fullhadronic final-states at CMS — •Andreas Ditte, Rebekka Hoeing, Alexander Schmidt, Ivan Marchesini, Emanuele Usai, and Heiner Tholen — CMS, Hamburg, Germany
In this study a search for vector-like quarks (VLQ) from a hypothetical 4th generation is presented. Although a chiral 4th generation was mostly excluded with the detection of the Higgs Boson, the existence of vector-like quarks enjoys increasing popularity in many theories. This study uses the 8 TeV LHC data recorded by CMS for the search.
For the single-production of a vector-like quark with full-hadronic final states (
T′→ tH
) Monte-Carlo simulations for the background and signal processes are examined. An event selection to reduce the standard model backgrounds using jet-substructure tagging algorithms and a data-driven background estimation method are presented. Finally the expected limits on the mass of a 4th generation vector-like quark with the 8 TeV LHC data are calculated.
