Search for ttH(ττ) with the ATLAS detector — David Hohn, Jürgen Kroseberg, Thomas Schwindt, •Birgit Stapf, and Norbert Wermes — Physikalisches Institut Universität Bonn
The production of a Higgs boson in association with a top quark pair gives direct access to its Yukawa coupling to the top quark. Specifically, in the ttH → ttττ channel only the coupling between the Higgs and fermions is involved. However, the rate for this particular combination of Higgs production and decay is low and the resulting final states are complex.
This presentation focuses on semileptonic decay channels of both the ττ- and tt-system, which result in a final state with two leptons and one hadronic τ-decay. Methods going beyond the current cut and count procedure employed in the ATLAS run 1 ttH-analysis are studied. In particular the possibility of using the invariant mass shape of the ττ-system for signal extraction in combination with a kinematic likelihood fit to suppress combinatorial backgrounds is investigated.
