Parametrizing detector resolution for air shower universality at the Pierre Auger Observatory — •Ariel Bridgeman and Markus Roth for the Pierre Auger collaboration — KIT, Karlsruhe
Motivated by the cosmic ray anisotropy observed at the Pierre Auger Observatory, recent work has explored anisotropic studies with discriminated primary composition. Investigation of this discrimination is performed using well-established estimators of particle composition: the shower maximum, its variance, and the elongation rate. Nevertheless, direct comparison across detectors necessitates proper treatment of detector resolution, which may yield improved event selection based on composition. Parameterization of the detector resolution to improve air shower universality estimates of Xmax-related calculations in addition to improved primary selection for anisotropy studies are presented.
