A measurement of top spin observables in tt events at the ATLAS detector — •Ralph Schäfer for the ATLAS collaboration — DESY, Hamburg, Deutschland
Top quarks in tt production are produced almost unpolarized, but their spins are highly correlated. Previous measurements of the top quark polarization and spin correlation in ttbar events at the LHC are in good agreement with the Standard Model, but those measurements cover just a fraction of the parameter space of the spin density matrix for ttbar production. In order to measure most of the parameters, more observables are needed. A study of polarization and spin correlation observables based on different quantization axes is presented. The measurement is performed on a data sample corresponding an integrated luminosity of 20 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at √s=8 TeV, taken by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in 2012.
