Mass Reconstruction Techniques for Resonances in like-sign W^±W^± Scattering — •Stefanie Todt, Christian Gumpert, Michael Kobel, and Anja Vest — IKTP, TU Dresden, Germany

Since the discovery of a SM-like Higgs boson, the scattering of massive weak vector bosons (VBS) has been a further yet missing piece in the Standard Model puzzle. Only recently a first evidence for such a scattering process has been found (Phys. Rev. Lett. 113, 141803 (2014)). New physics scenarios in this sector include additional heavy resonances which would enhance the VBS cross-section. Due to the best signal to background ratio, the like-sign W^±W^±jj channel is the most favorable final state for a first glance at resonances in VBS at a hadron collider such as the LHC. A study on mass reconstruction of resonances in this VBS channel is presented. Special emphasis lies on the technique of constrained minimization leading to mass bound variables. For different resonance types, variables providing the best discovery potential are determined and characterized.
