Precision Measurement of the (e+ + e) Flux in Primary Cosmic Rays from 0.5 GeV to 1 TeV with AMS-02 — •Valerio Vagelli, Karen Andeen, Iris Gebauer, Carmen Merx, Nikolai Nikonov, and Stefan Zeissler — KIT Karlsruhe Institut of Technology, Germany

The AMS-02 detector is a large acceptance particle detector operating on the International Space Station and collecting cosmic ray data since May 2011. About 41 billion events have been collected by the instrument in the first 30 months of data taking. Among them, 10.6 million electrons and positrons have been selected to measure the combined cosmic ray electron and positron (e+ + e) flux from 0.5 GeV to 1 TeV. The particle identification capabilities and the accurate energy measurement of the AMS-02 detector allow to precisely measure the electron and positron energy spectrum. The high accuracy measurement by AMS-02 shows that the (e+ + e) flux is smooth and that it can be described by a single power law above 30 GeV.
