Search for Dark Matter in the Galactic Halo with a Multipole Analysis of IceCube Data — •Martin Glagla, Martin Bissok, Martin Leuermann, Leif Rädel, René Reimann, Michael Schimp, Sebastian Schoenen, and Christopher Wiebusch for the IceCube collaboration — III. Physikalisches Institut B, RWTH Aachen

Self-annihilating or decaying Dark Matter in the galactic halo may contribute to an observable flux of high-energy neutrinos. These neutrinos can be detected with the IceCube Neutrino Observatory, a cubic-kilometer-sized Cherenkov detector at the geographic South Pole. This neutrino flux depends on the density of Dark Matter in the direction of sight and exhibits a large-scale anisotropy depending on the angular distance towards the galactic center. In a muon neutrino event sample, such an anisotropy would leave a characteristic imprint on multipole expansion coefficients of the observed set of arrival directions.

An initial analysis of data taken with the IceCube 79-string configuration was published by the IceCube Collaboration (arXiv:1406.6868).

We investigate possible improvements, e.g. by using energy estimators and extending the analysis to multiple years of data.
