Evolution of ATLAS conditions data and its management for LHC Run-2 — •Michael Böhler — Albert-Ludwigs-Universität, Freiburg, Deutschland
The detector conditions data e.g. alignment parameters, noise thresholds and calibration constants of the different ATLAS sub-detectors have to be provided both for data taking in the event reconstruction and for an accurate detector description in Monte Carlo simulations. In order to guarantee database availability for critical online applications during data-taking, two database systems one for online access and another one for all other database access have to be maintained.
During the LHC shutdown period the complete Run-1 system has been reviewed and reformed: workflows have been revised, new monitoring and maintenance tools have been developed and a complete new database instance has been implemented for Run-2 conditions data.
The detector conditions are organized by a tag identification strings managed independently from the different sub-detector experts. The individual tags are then collected and associated into a global conditions tag, assuring synchronization of various sub-detector improvements.
This contribution presents an overview of the improved tools and workflows, and summarizes the Run-2 commissioning phase.
