Proton Knockout Reactions from Neutron-Rich N Isotopes at R3B — •Ina Syndikus and Marina Petri for the R3B collaboration — IKP, TU Darmstadt, Germany
The R3B/LAND setup at GSI was used to measure the proton-knockout reaction on neutron-rich N isotopes in a kinematically complete way.
The aim of this study is to determine the proton amplitude of the first 2+ excited state of 16,18,20C isotopes. This can be achieved by studying the proton-knockout reaction from 17,19,21N to 16,18,20C. By measuring the ratio of the cross sections for the population of the first excited 2+ state and the ground state the proton amplitude can be determined.
An increase in the proton amplitude approaching the dripline can be explained by the reduction of the spin-orbit splitting between the proton p3/2 and p1/2 orbits due to the tensor and two-body spin-orbit components of the force between the protons and the added neutrons in the sd-shell [1]. This would explain the increase in the transition strength as observed in previous studies [2].
