Search for WIMP Dark Matter in VBF- and Monojet Topologies with the ATLAS Experiment at 13 TeV — •Manuel Patrice Geisler — Kirchhoff-Institut für Physik, Heidelberg, Deutschland
The cosmological evidence for Dark Matter is strong, however the nature of Dark Matter is still unknown and it has yet to be detected directly. The presented search with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, CERN, focuses on WIMP (weakly interacting massive particles) Dark Matter candidates. Different kinds of final states are investigated: both so-called monojets and final states with at least two jets of high transverse momenta and a significant amount of missing transverse momentum. The inclusion of the two-jet selection criteria enhances the sensitivity of this search to vector boson fusion topologies. Furthermore, the selection criteria are optimized in order to suppress background processes that mimic the production of Dark Matter particles. In this talk, further techniques of the search will be presented and aspects of the analysis performed with the 2015 dataset of proton-proton collision at √s = 13 TeV will be covered.
