One of the aims of the LHC Run-2 is the search for BSM physics. Many BSM models predict heavy resonances with masses in the TeV range. Some of these resonances are predicted to decay into a SM Higgs boson and a massive electroweak boson. A search for new heavy resonances in the decay mode V′→ VH→ lν/ll/νν+bb using data collected with the ATLAS detector in 13 TeV pp-collisions is presented. For the reconstruction of the final state, the presence of a boosted Higgs boson is exploited that decays into two b-quarks collimated in a single large-Radius jet. The search is performed by studying the invariant mass distribution of the VH system and testing for an excess. An optimization of the statistical model used to obtain upper limits on the resonance cross section is presented. The aim of this study is to reduce the complexity and improve the stability of the profile-likelihood fit. Additionally, an optimization of the event selection is presented that is intended to improve the sensitivity of the search.
