Long term behavior of nanodust clouds in an argon plasma — •Sebastian Groth, Franko Greiner, Benjamin Tadsen, and Alexander Piel — IEAP, Christian-Albrechts-Universität, Kiel, Germany
The long term behavior of nanodust clouds in an argon plasma is investigated in-situ by means of kinetic single-wavelength Mie ellipsometry. Using suitable ellipsometry setups, the ellipsometric angles Ψ and Δ are determined. From these the time-resolved size parameter x(t) as well as the complex refractive index N of the particle are obtained via Mie theory. The analysis method used in the process allows arbitrary evolutions of the particle size [1]. In combination with extinction measurements this enables the investigation of the size evolution of nanodust clouds in an argon plasma over a longer period.
It appears that the nanodust cloud continuously loses particles.
In this contribution it is investigated to what extend the change of the ellipsometric angles Ψ and Δ during the cloud decay can be traced back to a change of the optical properties or the size of the nanoparticles.
