Dielectric and diffusional aspects of hydration water — •Roland Netz and Matej Kanduc — Physics Department, FU Berlin, Germany

The molecular layer of water molecules on surfaces is important for the properties of neutral and charged solutes and surfaces. We study how hydration and dielectric properties of interfacial water layers can be used to explain diverse phenomena such as the hydration repulsion between polar surfaces, dielectric spectra of salt solutions, and conformational transitions of polymers.
