Europium monoxide is a semiconducting ferromagnet recently proposed as a spin-filter in the emerging field of spintronics. Using inelastic x-ray scattering and nuclear inelastic scattering combined with ab initio calculations we determined the lattice dynamics of EuO. The results revealed a giant momentum and temperature dependent spin-phonon coupling above and well below the Curie temperature.
