Boundary-driven dissipative quantum chains in large external fields — •Zala Lenarcic1 and Tomaz Prosen2 — 1Institute for theoretical physics, University of Cologne, D-50937, Germany — 2Faculty for mathematics and physics, University of Ljubljana, SI-1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia
We treat the nonequilibrium transport as a consequence of a combined driving: from a pseudo-force, originating in the bias in Markovian processes at the system’s boundaries, and from a real force due to an external field gradient g. For strong field gradients a systematic perturbation theory of the steady state current and slowest decay modes of the density matrix can be formulated for a general inhomogeneous XXZ spin 1/2 chain. From the explicit asymptotic expression for the current it is clear that by combining both drivings arbitrarily large current rectification can be achieved under g → −g in the presence of interaction. Moreover, via tailored field profiles one can obtain further control over the strength of stationary current.
