Temperature and illumination intensity dependent photoluminescence of methylammonium lead iodide perovskites — •Fabian Meier, Sebastian Reichert, Seth Niklas Schumann, Alexander Wagenpfahl, and Carsten Deibel — Institut für Physik, Technische Universität Chemnitz, 09126 Chemnitz, Germany
Understanding recombination mechanisms of electrical charge carriers is of tremendous importance for understanding the extraordinary power conversion efficiencies, which increased from 4 % up to 21 %. We investigate thin films of methylammionium lead iodide perovskite on top of PEDOT:PSS layer and an ITO layer in terms of their stoichiometric ratio of methylammonium iodide and lead iodide. By confocal photoluminescence measurements we determine direct recombination of electric charges as function of time and spatial location. We discuss our results in terms of illumination intensity as well as temperature dependence and compare it to the energetically resolved emission spectra. We discuss recombination by tail states, also visible in EQE spectra, in view of the performance of solar cells based on the investigated perovskite layers.
