Nowadays, a particular emphasis in thermoelectric research is put on the obtaining both high-performance and earth abundant materials. These requirements are perfectly suited in case of sulphur-containing materials. For instance, the nonstoichiometric chalcocite Cu2−xS (x = 0.03) reveals extremely high values of thermoelectric figure of merit ZTmax = 1.9 at 970 K [1]. The indium-containing thiospinels MIn2S4 (M = Cr, Mn, Fe, Co) [2], initially attracted a special attention due to their interesting magnetic behaviours. In this work, we focus on the study of thermoelectric properties of new Ti0.8In2.2S4 and known Fe0.9In2.1S4 compounds. Both of them show different transport properties: Ti-containing is a metal while that with Fe is a semiconductor. Despite relatively low thermal conductivities at elevated temperatures, both thiospinels show negligibly small ZT values (5 × 10−3 and 2 × 10−3 at 300 K, respectively). However, taking into account that the transport properties of Ti-Fe indium-thiospinels are ranging from metallic to semiconducting, a possibility of tuning of thermoelectric properties makes these sulphides promising materials.
