We have recently [1] shown that depositing Yttrium Iron Garnet by Pulsed Laser Deposition at room temperature and subsequent annealing in an oxygen atmosphere results in fully epitaxial layers. The layers show extremely low damping and very narrow linewidth in Ferromagnetic Resonance, even for thin layers. Here we show that annealing in oxygen is not mandatory. Also annealing in argon results in high quality layers. For a 63 nm YIG layer a linewidth of 2.26 Oe @ 9.6GHz and a damping of 1.61 · 10−4 is observed in FMR. Structural characterization indicates high crystalline quality and no visible defects. [1] Hauser et al., Sci. Rep. 6, 20827 (2016)
