Systematic investigations of the influence of Mn on the L10 - phase formation, texture and magnetic properties of tri-layered FePt/Mn/FePt thin films were conducted. The layered films were magnetron sputtered on thermally oxidized Si substrates at room temperature and post annealed via rapid thermal annealing at temperatures ranging from 650∘ C - 800∘ C for 30 s in N2 atmosphere. Pronounced formation of L10 (001)-textured grains with large perpendicular magnetic anisotropy was observed for Mn concenrations up to 10 at. % particularly at annealing temperatures above 750∘ C. Only for Mn concentration of 20 at. % a slight reduction of the saturation magnetization and enhanced coercivity were observed.
