The Fe based superconductors show great potential for high field applications due to their high upper critical field, their small anisotropy and their increased tolerance to small angle grain boundaries. The study of Fe-based superconducting thin films contributes to a better understanding of these correlated electron systems. We present results for epitaxial Ba(Fe1−xNix)2As2 thin films, which have been grown with pulsed laser deposition. The behavior of the upper critical field and critical current density has been measured in high magnetic fields up to 35 T. We find an increased slope of the upper critical field near Tc and compared to Co-doped thin films a smaller vortex liquid phase at low temperatures.
