Research and Upgrade of AMS at the Munich Tandem Accelerator — •Dominik Koll, Christoph Busser, Thomas Faestermann, José Manuel Gómez Guzmán, Karin Hain, Gunther Korschinek, David Krieg und Peter Ludwig — Physik-Department der Technischen Universität München, 85748 Garching
Since many years, accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) is used at the Munich tandem accelerator to perform high-sensitivity measurements of radionuclides in all mass ranges. Two dedicated setups are used for AMS, one with a gas-filled analyzing magnet system (GAMS) for isobaric suppression and one with a time-of-flight (ToF) and passive absorber foils (PA). The latest research covered radioisotopes for environmental studies, astrophysical measurements and nuclear waste applications. Most recently, the ToF setup is upgraded by a new detector array for higher transmissions, which consists of nine PIPS-detectors. The poster will provide an overview of used radioisotopes, developed techniques and recent upgrade and research results.
