Investigation of a positron/positronium converter with the (C)DB spectrometer of NEPOMUC (FRM II, Garching) — •Benjamin Rienäcker — Physics Department, CERN, 1211 Geneva 23, Switzerland
A new type of positron/ortho-positronium converter in transmission geometry, which is planned to be used in the 1T magnet of the AEgIS experiment at CERN, has been investigated by means of the Doppler-Broadening Spectrometer at FRM II in Garching. A continuous beam of 4·104 re-remoderated positrons per second with adjustable energies between 0.1 and 5 keV was implanted into a layer of 750nm silica, deposited on a 20nm carbon foil. Annihilation spectra were recorded by four Ge-detectors and a F-parameter was derived. Results were compared to Makhovian implantation profiles, confirming the highest ortho-positronium fraction for these targets at 1.5-2keV implantation energy.
