Search for direct pair production of top squarks in final states with two hadronically decaying tau leptons in pp collisions at √s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector — Michael Holzbock, •Ferdinand Krieter, Alexander Mann, and Balthasar Schachtner — Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München
Supersymmetry can resolve several shortcomings of the Standard Model, one of them being the hierarchy problem. Due to its large contribution to radiative corrections of the Higgs boson mass, the top squark, the supersymmetric partner of the top quark, is expected to be relatively light and thus within the reach of the LHC. A search for direct pair production of top squarks in final states with two tau leptons, (b-)jets and missing transverse momentum is presented. The analysis uses 36.5 fb−1 of proton-proton collision data at a center of mass energy of √s=13 TeV, recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC in 2015 and 2016. Top squark candidates are searched for in events where both tau leptons decay hadronically and no light leptons are present. This talk aims to give an insight into the strategy and method of the analysis and an interpretation of the results using simplified models.
