In recent years, the cubic chiral insulator Cu2OSeO3 attracted great scientific interest, combing the skyrmion lattice phase with strong magneto-electric coupling. We report a comprehensive study of the magnetic properties of single-crystal Cu2OSeO3 by means of measurements of the magnetization, ac susceptibility, and specific heat, in particular tracking the influence of crystal orientation, cooling history and demagnetizing effects on the formation of skyrmion order.
