We present an approach for the calculation of the micromagnetic exchange stiffness (Aαβ) as well as the closely related spin-wave stiffness, and Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (Dαβ) tensors, based on the fully relativistic multiple scattering Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker (KKR) formalism. Results for ordered systems and for disordered alloys are compared with experimental results as well as with results based on the parameters of the relativistically extended Heisenberg model, that were calculated within the same ab-initio framework. In general a good agreement between the micromagnetic parameters calculated directly and those derived from other parameters, as well as from experiment, is found.
