The francisites Cu3Bi(SeO3)2O2Br and Cu3Bi(SeO3)2O2Cl form layered pseudo-kagome structures, resulting in a highly spin frustrated state [1]. Our temperature- and field-dependent study uncovers strong lattice dynamics in Cu3Bi(SeO3)2O2Cl, that are absent in the -Br system. The origin of a low-energy excitation emerging in the magnetically ordered phase is discussed with respect to its magnetic field response and selection rule.
