Coulomb excitation of 142Xe — Corinna Henrich and •Thorsten Kröll for the IS548-MINIBALL collaboration — TU Darmstadt, Darmstadt, Germany
The nucleus 142Xe lies in the proximity of the doubly magic nucleus 132Sn, a region through which the r-process is expected to pass. 142Xe was studied in a "safe" Coulomb excitation experiment at HIE-ISOLDE (CERN) in 2016 in order to follow quadrupole and octupole collectivity in this area. Also, 144Ba, which exhibits the largest octupole collectivity in the region, is located just two protons above 142Xe. Both beam and target nuclei were measured using an array of segmented Si detectors (C-REX), covering forward as well as backward angles. The MINIBALL spectrometer was used to detect the emitted gamma rays in coincidence. The status of the analysis will be presented.
