Teaching Einstein's General Relativity with Sector Models: The Construction of Geodesics — •Sarah Carina Keuchel, Ute Kraus, and Corvin Zahn — Universität Hildesheim, Deutschland

Sector models are tools that make it possible to introduce students to Einstein's general relativity. Using video analysis we study how students acquire knowledge about constructing geodesics on sector models until they are able to perform the construction on their own. Using sector models of curved surfaces, the acceptance of the materials and their handling as well as the students' understanding of the method are investigated.
