A Monte Carlo Simulation of Cosmic InflationHans-Otto Carmesin1,2,3 and •Paul Brüning11Gymnasium Athenaeum, Stade — 2Studienseminar Stade — 3Universität Bremen

From the Cosmic Microwave Background CMB the flatness problem and the horizon problem arose. An extraordinarily rapid increase of distances in the early universe, the Cosmic Inflation, was proposed as a possible solution, whereby suggested mechanisms for such an increase have been criticized (Steinhardt, 2011). We investigate a model based on Loop Quantum Gravity. Space points are modelled by vertices and the connections in space are modelled by edges. Originally the number of edges was very high. When the number of edges decreases then the distances increase. This models cosmic inflation. We present a Monte Carlo simulation of this process. We present the development of the project in the framework of a Jugend forscht club.
