Progress in QCD calculations and applications to LHC physics — •Kirill Melnikov — Max-Planck-Institut für Physik, Föhringer Ring 6, 80805 München
A confrontation of precise, improvable QCD predictions for hard scattering processes at the LHC with results of precise experimental measurements allows us to extract important information about SM dynamics and provide indirect constraints on physics beyond the Standard Model. In this talk, I will describe a few examples where precision gives us access to physics that is not accessible otherwise and discuss technical challenges that the field of perturbative QCD will have to solve to sustain the impressive progress of the past decade.
