Strongly correlated photon scattering via time-delayed feedback control — •Manuel Kraft and Alexander Carmele — Nichtlineare Optik und Quantenelektronik, Institut für Theoretische Physik, TU Berlin, Berlin, Germany 10623

The confinement of light to quasi one dimension leads to a considerable increased light-matter coupling, achievable, e.g., in photonic crystal waveguides and in superconducting circuits. The strong light-matter interaction in turn enables the formation of bounded states of light showing strong effective photon-photon interactions, paving the way to fundamental applications in quantum optics and quantum information sciences [1,2]. In this context, we study photon transport of few-photon wave-packets interacting with distant quantum emitters. Using a scattering approach based on the Lippmann-Schwinger equation [3], we focus on the non-Markovian regime, where the propagation delay-times between the emitters become crucial. Especially, by extending the study to half-open waveguides [4], we show using a four-level emitter, that time-delayed self-feedback can be used to form quasi-bound states in the continuum, where photons can be trapped for very long times in a restricted region in the waveguide. This in turn enables enhanced distant photon-photon interactions with the possibility to generate photon pairs highly entangled in time and frequency.
