Tuning the Energetic Landscape of Mixed Dimensionality Perovskites — •Haralds Abolins and Felix Deschler — Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, UK
Mixed dimensionality Ruddlesden-Popper perovskites have recently been shown to possess high performance in solar cells and greatly enhanced intrinsic stability relative to their bulk counterparts, which has proven the key challenge for the commercialization of perovskite-based photovoltaics. Nevertheless, the charge transport characteristics between the different phases in these materials have not been well understood. To elucidate the carrier dynamics in Ruddlesden-Popper perovskites a large single-phase grain system is developed and utilized to track the spatial distribution of the varying dimensionality domains in the resulting thin films and identify charge funnelling routes into the lowest band-gap phases of the material, which are shown to be tunable, as needed for specific applications.
