Getting your research funded by the DFG - formal and informal aspects — •Michael Mößle1 and Manfred Bayer2 — 1Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, 53175 Bonn — 2Experimentelle Physik 2, TU Dortmund, 44227 Dortmund
The German Research Foundation (DFG) is Germany's largest research funding organization. The DFG is unique in its working style because it is largely self-governed by the scientific community. In this contribution an overview of the different DFG funding lines in physics will be presented. Also, we will attempt to give some insights into the review and decision making process from the perspective of the DFG head office and a current review board member.
