Among ruthenates, the antiferromagnetic Mott insulator Calcium Ruthenate, Ca2RuO4, has shown remarkable complexity in spin, orbital and phonon correlations. Strong spin-orbit coupling manifests in the form of a complex Phonon, Magnon and collective Higgs mode spectrum. Here we report on the transient dynamics after photo-excitation across the Mott gap, revealing saturation and depletion regimes. In addition we find a so far unknown coherent low frequency mode, which we characterize by Impulsive Stimulated Raman and Terahertz spectroscopy as a possible paramagnon.
