One of the promising and attractive sources of high-dimensional entanglement are orbital angular momentum (OAM) states of light. The (almost) unlimited value of orbital number leads to an unrestricted range of basis states, so-called OAM modes, which may enable larger-alphabet quantum key distribution and provide high-dimensional quantum information resistant to eavesdropping.
In this work we theoretically describe the generation of entangled counterpropagating photons with high-order OAM in a four-wave-mixing process which takes place in a periodic waveguide. Under the assumption of non-degenerate pumps, the signal and idler modes are phase matched by using of two helical grating structures with different periodic lengths. Manipulating of the frequency of the signal and idler photons with using of different helical waveguiede structures was shown. Creating of artificial intensity profiles of the generated photons was demonstrated.
