Omega Meson Production in √s = 13 TeV pp collisions with ALICE — •Marvin Hemmer for the ALICE collaboration — Institut für Kernphysik, Goethe-Universität Frankfurt
A hot and dense medium, the so-called quark-gluon plasma (QGP), is believed to be created in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The dedicated heavy-ion experiment ALICE at LHC is designed to study the properties of the QGP. Measurements in pp collisions function as a baseline for the measurements in Pb-Pb collisions and further provide insights in the particle production processes. A comparison of neutral pion (π0) and omega meson (ω) production allows for a study of the mass dependence of the production mechanisms of particles with similar quark content. In the ALICE experiment, omega mesons are measured via the decay channels ω → π+π−π0 and ω → π0γ. The π0γ decay channel is measured facilitating the photon conversion method (PCM) and the electromagnetic calorimeter (EMCal).
In this poster, we report on the current status of the ω→π0γ measurement in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV.
