Reconstruction of missing momentum in Λb→ Λc D*0 K decays — •Mindaugas Sarpis for the LHCb collaboration — University of Bonn, Bonn, Germany
Charmonium-pentaquarks, Pc, were observed by LHCb in 2015 and 2019 as resonances in the J/ψ p final state from Λb → J/ψ p K− decays. The nature of these resonances is not yet fully understood, but their proximity to the Σc D*0 thresholds motivate ‘molecular’ pentaquark models. These models predict large branching fractions of Pc → Λc D*0 decays. There is a large sample of Λb→ Λc D*0 K decays in the LHCb data acquired during Run 1 and Run 2 of the LHC, however the low-momentum π0 or γ from the decay D*0 → D0 π0/γ are difficult to reconstruct. Instead, the four-momentum of the D*0 is found from a kinematic over-constraint method called Extended Cone Closure, which is the main topic of this talk.
