We systematically investigate the synthesis of polystyrene-block-poly(4-vinylpyridine) templated *-Fe2O3 thin films by changing the solvent category (DMF or 1,4-dioxane) and the polymer-to-FeCl3 ratios. DMF/1,4-dioxane mixtures with different component ratios are also prepared for revealing the effect of the solvent selectivity on the thin film morphology. The structure transition mechanism of the thin films is explained by the preferential affinity and the small-molecule surfactant micelles theory.
