One of the most thoroughly explored spin-wave modes in ferromagnetic films is the perpendicular standing spin wave (PSSW) mode, the coherent excitation of which require nonuniform excitation or pinning of the magnetization. By tuning the film thickness, it is possible to shift this mode to the sub-THz regime due to the increased exchange contribution quantized over the thickness. Here, we demonstrate the formation of the first PSSW mode on the ps timescale following the optically induced ultrafast demagnetization of the thin Py film using fs-light pulses in an all-optical, time-resolved magneto-optical Kerr effect (tr-MOKE) technique. For the excitation of coherent spin waves using ultrashort laser pulses, the magnetization of the samples was canted in OOP direction with an external field. The observed time-dependent behavior of the first PSSW mode gives an insight into the role of spin waves during the ultrafast demagnetization and remagnetization process.
