Effective short distance interacting Hamiltonians for higher Landau levels in graphene — •Nikolaos Stefanidis1 and Inti Sodemann2,11Max-Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems, D-01187 Dresden, Germany — 2Institut für Theoretische Physik, Universität Leipzig, D-04103 Leipzig, Germany

We study the many body problem in graphene in the quantum Hall regime. Although dominated by Coulomb interactions, short range corrections can select among the degenerate ground states. For the N=0 Landau level (LL) their importance has been demonstrated [1,2] and recent work[3] suggests that this remains true in the N=1 LL . In this talk, we will present results on effective Hamiltonians with N ≠ 0. We analyse the point group symmetries of graphene and find the Hamiltonians dictated by those.
